Archived Data

Preliminary internally-recorded, hourly averaged meteorological data for the completed deployments of the Stratus buoy are presented here as they become available. This data is a preliminary version, subject to further quality control and possible calibration revisions.

For unedited data from more recent deployments of the Stratus platform, received via Argos satellite, please see the real time data section, above.

Meteorology

The ASIMET meteorological sensors on the buoy provided a record of:

  • Wind velocity
  • Relative Humidity
  • Air and Sea surface Temperatures
  • Incoming Shortwave Radiation
  • Incoming Longwave Radiation
  • Barometric Pressure
  • Precipitation
The surface fluxes of heat and momentum in the Stratus region were estimated from the meteorological and near-surface oceanographic measurements using the bulk flux algorithm developed for TOGA COARE.
